Honestly, I realize that Madoc is an insanely skilled Mercenary, but if Madoc encountered Locke at this exact moment, I have a feeling that Locke could actually kill him--he's worried about hurting others, especially the ones he knows, but when faced against a guy trying to kill him, he very easily could "slip", so to speak.
Basically--right now, he's a danger to everyone except himself (well, maybe even himself), including Madoc. Soyeah, he'll be fine; it's those he comes into contact we should be worried about.
I don't want to give anything away, but I'll say there's a definite reason why Locke is so adamant about making sure Ren and Oralee stay behind. He's definitely in a very unstable condition right now.
